Large AV Technology Solution for Large Higher Ed Spaces

This solution design provides the full suite of hybrid and distance learning options, both synchronous and asynchronous, including lecture capture, streaming and videoconferencing. And the layout and operation of the room can be easily reconfigured to create more immersive learning scenarios or facilitate active learning discussion groups.

Considerations for Creating ADA-Compliant Spaces

  • Projector:
    • Choose the correct projector size for the content according to the 4-6-8 rule.
    • For general presentations, ensure that the farthest viewer is no more than 6 times the image height away from the screen.
    • Ensure appropriate brightness - use our Screen Surface Selection Calculator
    • Don't forget to consider sight lines.
  • Upgrade one of the EasyIP 10 cameras to an EasyIP 20; Use the HDMI input of the EasyIP Mixer to provide a Picture-In-Picture view of a sign language interpreter.
  • Make sure the lectern is compatible with wheelchair users or ensure it has a flip-up shelf with access to presentation controls.
  • Ensure presentation controls are easy to manipulate by those with limited motor functions or vision.
  • Use the extra audio output of the EasyIP Mixer to send audio to the assistive listening system.
  • Use Connectrac under carpet raceway to enable trip-free presentation spaces.
  • Install ModPower devices so they are within the max reach standard of 20-25”.
  • Interactive Display:
    • Consider a height-adjustable display mount with max reach of 48” at the lowest setting
    • Some interactive displays allow key functions to be positioned at the bottom of the display making it possible for limited-reach users to access the display functions.
    • A wireless mouse can also help with reach in some circumstances.
  • Ensure a display is able to show the live transcriptions if a sign language interpreter is not available.
